http://www.winchesterstudents.co.uk/volunteering

You can even get involved in volunteering for your SU itself to help yourself and the student community: This is a great way to meet new people and help in the running of important events within your union as well as outside. There are plenty of opportunities to become actively involved within the SU... inputting to such things as: Events Committees - Campaigns ...

I assume the uni still offers that as a subject? I must have a look at the courese listings to check it our for interest!

At Winchester there's an excellent system for student representation - and all new students have the option to volunteer at the start of the year to represent you fellow coursemates. It's a great chance to gain some greta experience at proper university meetings, and can be a great feeling - helping all students on your course through speaking the majority viewpoint on issues in a clear and well informed way! This year's fortnight runs from 22nd September through to 5th october inclusive - but details of exactly what's coming won't be out until the summer vacation I'm afraid. However - all our new students acan expect something special - and something for everyone - with daytime as well as evening happenings, and variety.

From the South it's only abouy 13 miles from Southampton and Basingstoke a but more 'Oop North' in Hants is less than 17 miles ( I think).
- Train is very handy indeed - and a 10 minute (max.!) walk from Uni of Winchester's main campus. Buses everywhere as well. Places to visit nearby: Eastleigh! Portsmouth's famous dockyward or posh shops. London! (60 mins). Bournemouth or the new forest. Plus more!
